Inhalation can be the most direct method of delivery for the healing components of essential oils.  When essential oils are inhaled through the nose, they have a direct passage to the brain, and can cross the mucous membrane of the respiratory system quickly.  From there they enter the bloodstream where they can begin work on systems that moderate the body.
